Dear Parents,

Your student will soon begin his/her senior year of high school.  One important item your son or daughter should be thinking about is getting senior pictures taken.  Senior pictures for the Western High School Yearbook will be due on Thursday, December 4, 2008.  The Western High School Yearbook Staff WILL NOT accept any photos after this due date.  If the photo is turned in late, it will not appear in the yearbook.

To ensure that your child’s photo will appear in the yearbook, be sure to schedule their senior photo sitting as soon as possible.  Also, keep in mind it may take the photographer 6-8 weeks to print proofs and then another 6-8 weeks to order the photos you would like.  These are general time frames and will give you an idea the amount of time needed to ensure your child’s photo will be in on time.

The photo you send to Western High School for the yearbook will need to follow these  requirements:

As stated above, the photos must be a traditional head and shoulders photo.  Backgrounds may be traditional or contemporary (outdoor settings are acceptable).  Please take into consideration hair, clothing and background color.  For example, only the face will be visible if you wear a dark sweater and have dark hair with a dark background.  With lighter hair, lighter clothing and a light background, the face will blend into the background.

The Yearbook Adviser reserves the right to refuse ANY photo that does not fit the above guidelines, or is considered inappropriate for the high school yearbook.  When submitting the photo, do not write your name on the back of the photo.  Please put the photo in an envelope and print your name on the envelope.  Photos will be accepted in the high school main office and in room 243.

Please refer to the examples below as guidelines for acceptable yearbook photos.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.
